Worried about rain on your wedding day? Here’s why it might just be the best thing that happens.
If you’ve been nervously refreshing your weather app every hour in the lead-up to your big day — I see you.
It’s totally normal to dream of sunshine and golden hour, but here’s the truth: rain doesn’t ruin the magic. Some of the most beautiful, joy-filled wedding photos I’ve ever taken happened under grey skies or during full-on showers. Rainy weddings bring a kind of romance and spontaneity you just can’t plan — and I’m here for it.
1. Softer Light = Dreamier Photos
Rainy days mean cloudy skies, which means soft, even light — perfect for portraits. No squinting, no shadows, just a gentle glow that makes skin tones look amazing and details pop.
2. Real, Unscripted Joy
There’s something about the unpredictability of rain that brings out everyone’s true selves.
From guests huddled under umbrellas to couples throwing their heads back laughing mid-downpour — the photos that come out of these moments are pure feeling.
3. We Always Have a Plan B (and C)
Before every wedding, I check for sheltered photo spots in case the weather turns. Barn doors, porches, arches — you’d be surprised how romantic these little corners become.
And clear umbrellas? My secret weapon. They let in light and look timeless in photos.
4. It Becomes Part of the Story
Your wedding story is yours — and sometimes that story includes a bit of rain.
Years from now, you won’t remember the forecast. You’ll remember the way your partner looked at you while your dress got a little soggy, or how you danced under the clouds like it was meant to be that way all along.

You Can’t Control the Weather… But You Can Trust Your Photographer
My job isn’t just to take pictures — it’s to tell your story.
Whether the sun’s blazing or we’re dancing in the rain, I’m there for the real, the messy, the emotional — and yes, even the soggy.
So if the skies open on your wedding day? Just know this: we’ll make magic out of it.
